Who Is Eligible For GSC Services?
Our medical and dental services each require a few specific requirements which are verified during the clinic visit. Persons with Medicare, Medicaid, or Veteran’s Assistance, or those who have personal health insurance, but do not meet our eligibility requirements, are not eligible for medical care services offered at GSC. Dental services will be provided to people with Medicare, Veteran’s Assistance, and Indian Health Services. The Clinic uses the current Federal Poverty Level Guideline (200%), which in 2026 is $31,920 for a family of one, to determine financial eligibility.
Each person attending the GSC, must visit with a member of the Eligibility Team to verify that our eligibility requirements are met.

Medical Services
Our free walk-in clinics are open for registration from 6:00pm-7:00pm in Spearfish on Monday evenings and Lead the 2nd & 4th Thursday nights.
Dental Services
For every American without health insurance, there are almost three times as many without dental insurance. GSC sees first-hand the need for dental services.

When is the clinic open?
Good Shepherd Free Clinic in Spearfish is open on Monday nights at 1020 State Street and Good Shepherd Free Clinic in Lead is open on the 2 nd and 4 th Thursday nights at
825 W. Main Street. Registration for both clinics is from 6:00pm-7:00pm. The clinics will be closed on holidays and on certain dates in August.
Do I need to make an appointment?
We do not make appointments for medical or dental services, but recommend that you arrive at 6:00pm. Our dentists can see five patients during each clinic. Light refreshments will be available during your time at the clinic.
Is there a charge for being seen at the clinic?
Your visits to Good Shepherd Free Clinic are free of charge. If the medical provider or dentist orders services outside of our clinic, we do cover certain prescriptions, lab work, x-rays, and dental extractions. If Good Shepherd Free Clinic will not cover your order, you will be given information on the Financial Assistance Program for Monument Health about coverage for these services.
What about the cost of prescriptions?
Good Shepherd Free Clinic partners with eight local pharmacies in Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Sturgis, Deadwood and Lead to cover many prescriptions. We do not keep any medications at the clinic, and we do not prescribe narcotics. A pharmacist is
usually available on Monday nights in Spearfish to answer questions.
What if I need medical care during the week?
If you experience an illness that requires medical or dental attention when the clinics are not open, you are encouraged to visit an urgent care or emergency room. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify, so please ask for the necessary paperwork. Messages may also be left at the Good Shepherd Free Clinic phone number of 605-717-2080 and will be answered by Good Shepherd Free Clinic staff during the week.
What dental services are available?
Good Shepherd Free Clinic in Spearfish will provide dental services to five patients on Monday night to relieve dental pain, swelling, infection and inflammation. A dentist performs an oral exam and recommends extractions which need to be made. A referralis made to a partner dental office for the extraction(s). Good Shepherd Free Clinic will pay the expense of extraction(s).
We are unable to provide cleaning, fillings, crowns, or root canals.
Is there other help available?
During your time at the clinic, we encourage you to visit with the Resource team member to locate local and/or state resources to assist you with particular needs. Mental health counseling is available through a partnership with West River Mental Health.
